We are home...

We finally made it back! We arrived yesterday afternoon...after driving through a ridiculous storm in Gaylord. The same storm produced about one inch of rain at the house. Not bad for a quick storm! The cat was fine and everything was as we left it. Just the way it should be!

Today I decided to start preparing a winter shelter for my entertainment when the snow starts falling. I have not done a TON to it yet...but I am taking pictures and video while I am putting it together. I will upload those pictures when I get a moment during the week. I believe I am going to start putting videos on youtube...but I have never done that and it may take a bit for me to get an account and upload the videos.

The design is of the shelter is wigwam-ish. However I am going to add a chimney to it and change the door a bit. The door will be framed with saplings and hinged with rope, and the chimney will be open at the top of the shelter. I am going to cover the walls with saplings and possibly staple emergency blankets to the inside. I may substitute the blankets with black plastic on the inside and then cover the outside with pine bows or sticks. Lots to be decided still but I am going to call it "The Onion" shelter since the final product will look like the top half of an onion. Should be a good time when it is done!

Anyway, that is it for tonight...stay tuned for pictures and videos.

Goodnight from Northern Michigan!
